Railay March 2013

In search for an even nicer beach with an even better atmosphere we ventured across the pond to Railay beach. Still part of the Krabi province but only accessible by boat. There are several long tail boats going to Railay on a daily basis. Tickets are 100 baht/£2.25$3.36 each way and is about 5 minutes.

After arriving its pretty easy to realise that there isn't much on there with regards to restaurants, bars or accommodation which is a big change from Ao Nang but honestly I preferred the simpleness. There are handful of bars, restaurants, smoothie places and bungalows.

Railay beach is very beautiful with clear water and white sand. It's much less populated than Ao Nang which I liked more as it felt more relaxed and exclusive. After a couple hours of sunbathing we had lunch which was slightly more expensive than Ao Nang as there is no road access to Railay so everything is transported by boat.

After lunch we decided to sit in the shade as my friend had suffered from the age old problem of sunburn :( so the shade was the only option really. After napping in the shade and reading the final instalment of the Hunger Games we decided at 5pm to get the long tail boat back to Ao Nang.

After relaxing for a few hours hunger prevailed as it too often does for me whilst travelling and we managed to find a real Thai and much less touristy restaurant with real Thai prices of 60 baht/£1.30/$2 and much better food. After a relaxing day we watched a film and wandered into a sleepy abyss until the next day.
