Ko Lanta March 2013

Day 4

Today was a pretty relaxed day. Etta and I woke up at 12 and had lunch then decided to get a massage. I got a one hour Swedish massage for 300 baht/£6.78/$10 and Etta a body scrub for 400 baht/£9/$13.50. Mine was very relaxing I didn't want it to end, Etta's wasn't as relaxing but her skin felt much softer and sleeker after. After our massages we headed straight to the pool as my body was covered in oil :(

After the pool we had a nap, showered and walked a few minutes down the road to a restaurant. I had green curry and rice and Etta chicken soup. We then met up with Christina, Pernille, Ryan and Ryan and had drinks once again until the morning.

Day 5

Today we woke up early for us at 10am and actually made it to breakfast which wasn't very Thai and consisted of an omelette each and French toast. Filling nonetheless. We decided to get a tuk tuk to Saladan which is an area of Lanta where there are several shops, tour operators, restaurants, diveshops and market stalls. I couldn't help but procure some items including a brown leather Mulberry clutch for 1450 baht/£32/$48, a t shirt 200 baht/£4.50/$6.70 and some well needed flip flops 150 baht/£3.34/$5.

We then found an authentic Thai restaurant just around the corner. We asked the lady what food she had, she had 5 different types of curry served with noodle soup and a chicken wing each. When we sat down she gave us vegetables to compliment our meal which was really tasty. All for a thrifty 70 baht/£1.50/$3.35 each.

We then got a tuk tuk back home and I continued some much needed emails, printing, blogging and postcard writing which still isn't finished while Etta sunbathed on the beach.

After I completed some of my tasks I joined Etta who was now by the pool from about 5pm. An adorable English couple started talking to us about our travels, where we had been so far, their plans and life back home in addition to a restaurant recommendation. In general it was a nice ending to the evening and at around 6 we said bye, left the pool and got showered and changed for dinner.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants right outside outside our resort. I had pork fried rice which was absolutely delicious, Pernille, Etta and Christina had chicken satay sticks, mushroom soup, spring rolls, prawn salad and prawn fried rice.

After dinner we proceeded to the resort bar and had a few beers whilst playing a few card games. There was talk of a beach party on the island that night so after we found out where that was Ryan and Ryan, some Danes, a German and Canadian guy joined the party and before we knew it there were 15 of us trying to find a tuk tuk to take us the beach. After doing do so we arrived at the beach bar (Ozone Bar) with people dancing on the bar and chicken kebabs on offer. Beers were pretty standard in price but buckets which is just a spirit and a mixer in a small bucket but large enough to share were overpriced. Along with cocktails and Bacardi breezers.

After being at the party for a couple of hours I knew it was time to hang up my dancing shoes and my bed was calling me. The prospect of waking up at 8am when it was 3am already wasn't a nice thought either. So I got a tuk tuk back to the resort and greeted my bed with open arms until the following morning.
