Stony Lake August 2013

Day 1

Today my friend Alison and I went for lunch in The Beaches, an area in Toronto which is like a little beach town within Toronto. There are lots of cafes, pubs, restaurants and boutique stores on the main road and a beach obviously. The houses in this area are quite cute too. We went to a restaurant called Green Eggplant which do really good salads and sandwiches. I had a salmon salad which was incredibly filling as rarely salads are. My friend had a chicken and chargrilled vegetable salad which looked really good too. It's on Queen Street East so if you're ever in The Beaches you have to check this place out.

We then went to Alison's cottage for the weekend in Stony Lake, about 2 hours from Toronto. Three of us were staying at the cottage along with Alison's parents Bill and Carol, her sister April, the family dog Abbey and a hedgehog named Maximus that April was babysitting. I don't think I've ever seen a hedgehog other than in the road so this was pretty fascinating for myself and the whole house included. Maximus is pretty much how you would expect and incredibly cute although prickly.

That night we all had a delicious dinner of 3 different types of salad, pork chops and vegetables and later roasted s'mores which were incredibly appropriate for my first evening at a Canadian cottage in the country :D.

Day 2
The next day we took Alison's boat to the nearby golf club to have lunch with Carol after she finished playing. The four of us had lunch together along with about 10 of Carol's friends. It was a lovely day with a nice view of the golf course from our table. After lunch we took the boat and a little tour of the lake.

The rest of the day was pretty chilled and relaxing, we simply drunk, watched Bridesmaids and played board games that trust me were not boring at all along with Heads Up which was intensely amusing.

Day 3
Today after our 4th friend arrived at the cottage we took the boat out with Alison's parents to Young's Point where one of the locks of the lake is. There is also a few stores selling knick knacks, clothes, home items, a bar and ice cream. One of the largest and oldest stores is Lockside Trading Company where we all had ice cream courtesy of Kawartha Diary Company, a Canadian company with really good ice cream. I had butterscotch ripple :D

After that we took the boat back and saw a few more sights along the lake then made our way home. We then ventured out onto the floaty on the lake just as a huge cloud came over so that didn't last long. After we changed we had another delicious dinner of chicken burgers and Caesar salad, then played Heads Up, along with 5 Second Rule and Cards Against Humanity which is pretty hilarious too until about midnight by which time my bed was calling.
