San Diego July 2013

Today we headed to Little Italy as there is a farmers market there along with lots of Italian eateries. The farmers market spans across about 4/5 blocks and sells products such as dips for tortilla chips, organic cheeses, smoothies, fresh fruit and vegetables, crepes, croissants to artwork and clothes. It's a cool farmers market and I would definitely recommend going if you are in San Diego on a Saturday.

We then had a quick lunch of pizza at a pizzeria nearby then headed to the Seaport Village. Seaport Village is pretty cool, there are a few large boats on the port, a mega yacht and submarine. There are also a lot of bicitaxis and street performers. Further up the port there are a few cute stores, more street performers and restaurants.

After the Seaport we went to the Old Town which is exactly that. I feel as if I went back in time. The streets are cobbled or sandy and the buildings are old. There are a few things to see such as an old barn, old houses that were built back in the day that are now museums, more stores selling tiles to jewellery to all sorts of knick nacks and snacks. There are also a few restaurants around, mostly Mexican. I liked Old Town, it's pretty cute and several of the workers are dressed as if they would be when the town was first discovered. Which is mostly large puffy dresses which must be pretty tough in the summer.

We next drove through the Gaslamp Quarter which is filled with restaurants, bars, clubs and cinemas. It's a pretty trendy area so I would check out that area if you go to San Diego. We went to Hillcrest which is the prominent gay area in San Diego. We went to a bar and had a couple of drinks, most of the bars in San Diego offer a happy hours or deals on drinks. After the bar we headed to a sushi place a couple of blocks away and shared gyozas, California rolls, baked rolls and edamame. It was delicious and a pretty filling. Thanks Yelp. On the way home we stopped at Sprinkles cupcakes for dessert and chilled after a pretty busy day.
