Buenos Aires May 2013

One night Corrie and I decided to have dinner at a place she had heard of that boasts amazing steaks which is pretty easy to find here. Las Cabras in Palermo Hollywood was quite nice and we sat outside while drinking Malbec red wine. I'm not usually a fan of red wine but I have become accustomed to this type of red. Along with that we ordered a Argentine feast of a massive juicy steak, I have no idea how many ounces or grams but you can guess from the pictures, grilled cheese, pumpkin purée, rice, fries, fried egg and grilled peppers. I couldn't finish the meal as hard as I tried but it was delicious and worth every peso which was 73ARS/£9/$15. A total bargain and impossible to find at home for that price and quality. After dinner we enjoyed the walk home and I sleep thoroughly well that night.

At the weekend it was Corrie's birthday so we celebrated by having a BBQ. We bought meat, vegetables, bread, beer, wine and charcoal in the day. We started the grill at about 7pm, there were 10 of us there including our roommates, friends of roommates and boyfriends. It was a good group altogether with a combination of Argentines, Britons, Colombians and Americans. We ate at about 8:30pm, starting with chorizo, bread and salad. Then moving to the ribs, steak and vegetables followed by copious amounts of wine and beer collectively.

We started clearing up at around 1am and got ready to go out. We drunk until about 3am and headed to Hollywood to go to the club. We stopped at a bar for a quick drink then headed to the nightclub Kika. I hear its pretty similar in Vegas but not as obvious. So most clubs have an entry price to get in as does Buenos Aires which is 50ARS/£6.20/$9.20 for girls and 80ARS/£10/$15 for guys. Which is great if you're a girl, quite discriminatory nonetheless. Regardless, I still think there are WAY more guys in the club than girls which is quite amusing. As drinks started at 55ARS/£6.80/$10.57 which was more than the price to get in, in addition to the long wait at the bar we proceeded to the dance floor. Kika is quite big, bigger than you would think from the outside. The music was really good and they played all Spanish music which was refreshing as usually whatever club you go to in whatever country 9/10 it's the same Western music you hear at home. We stayed until about 6am as Corrie injured her foot slightly, I have no idea what time clubs close here as when we left there was no sign of it dying down. Although I'm sure I'll stay at a club until the end by the end of this trip.

After we walked home I made it to bed and started to doze off just as the Sun was coming up.
