Buenos Aires Foodie April 2014

Just a list of a few of my favourite places to eat and drink in BA.

BURGER JOINT
There are 4 types of burgers: American, Jamacian, Blue Cheese and The Mexican.
Each burger is 45 pesos/£3.30/€4.05/$5.60 and a little more for fríes and drinks which include beer, sangria and soft drinks.
It's a really cool atmosphere with writings on the wall in addition to good burgers.
Located at 1766 Jorge Luis Borges near Plaza Serrano.

La Choza
Located on 1701 Gascon in Palermo, this is one of the nicest parillas I've been to. Quite an upmarket restaurant with fast and attentive waiters.
The steak here is amazing as are most places in BA, all steaks are great prices start from 88 pesos/£6.59/€8/$11 which is great value and extra for any sides you may desire.

PANERA ROSA
Panera Rosa is a cute cafe with good menu items such as waffles, pattiserie, salads, sandwiches and burgers. The food is yummy but a bit pricey compared to other places in BA.
I had a grapefruit frozen drink and waffles for 87 pesos/£6.50/€7.90/$10.90.
Also located on Jorge Luis Borges at 1685. It's quite large inside with a little outside area also.

La Cocina
Pretty much every empanada in Buenos Aires is a good empanada so when my friend told me about La Cocina I was pretty excited. Located at 1508 Pueyrredon. This tiny eatery has about 15 seats and a small menu with around 10 empanada types and stews. I had carne(beef) suave, carne picante and chicken empanadas which were yummy. A different type of pastry was used but equally if not better than my usual empanadas. Three empanadas and a drink at 42 pesos/£3.10/€3.80/$5.30.

NININA BAKERY
Located in Palermo at 4738 Gorriti, another cafe I like but preferred Panera Rosa. The inside is larger than the Panera Rosa with outside dining also. Nininia specialises in gateauxes and cakes in addition to juices, smoothies and sandwiches. A little pricey also, we got an afternoon tea for two which included 2 juices, 2 hot drinks, 1 sandwich, a brownie, Madeira cake, cheesecake and a cookie. We choose chai tea, the famous Ninina kale juice, ham baguette, chocolate chip cookie, lemon cake, strawberry cake and grapefruit juice. If you have a sweet tooth or are craving something sweet this is definitely the thing for you as there is only 1 savoury item.

However there are several other food items to choose from. Ninina is more expensive than Panera at 275 pesos/£20/€24.80/$34.40 for the tea for two.

878
Is a bar located at 878 Thame in Palermo, it's mostly gained notoriety from word of mouth due to its prohibition style entrance. There is no sign outside the bar simply a bouncer located outside the tall wooden double doors which are closed.

A prohibition vibe is mimicked throughout as it seems like a secret bar, a stocked bar with every sprit under the sun. 878 is famous for its quirky cocktails and shots in addition to serving food.
