Casa Rosada June 2013

Today Corrie and I went on a tour of the Casa Rosada 'The Pink House'. This is where the President works. It is pretty much a large pink building but the inside surprised me quite a bit.

The tour runs on weekends and public holidays from 10am-6pm. The tour is free and runs every 10-15 minutes for 60 minutes. The tours are mostly carried out in Spanish but you can get a tour in English if you book ahead.

I didn't get most of what our tour guide was saying as he was talking very quickly in Spanish but its nice to look around and take photos. There are several rooms with several portraits of influential famous Argentines. In one particular room there are several portraits of influential Argentine women including Evita Peron.

There is another corridor with several famous Argentines including Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona and Carlos Gardel.

We also went to the balcony where Evita spoke to her people of Argentina 30 years ago. Casa Rosada is quite grand inside and the tour was good. So if you're interested in that kind of stuff and have a spare hour on the weekend I would recommend it.
