La Boca May 2013

Today Corrie and I decided to venture into La Boca. Another barrio in Buenos Aires which is known for being a bit dangerous when the sun goes down and not somewhere you want to be as a tourist, but in the day it's fine. We got on the bus to La Boca and started walking along the main road trying to find the colourful houses that the barrio is famous for. After a couple of turns we stumbled upon the houses and market stalls selling handicrafts and jewellery. There are also several restaurants touting for business, many tourists and tango dancers as La Boca is where tango started in Argentina. There are several stores selling souvenirs also.

La Boca is completely safe when you stay within the touristy areas and where the colourful houses are so stay within those parameters when you go. The areas outside the main streets are more run down which reminded me a lot of Havana. La Boca is also home to Buenos Aires football stadium, therefore there are several stores selling football shirts and hoodies. Overall La Boca is a pretty cool place and I would recommend it to all.
