Laguna Beach December 2011

There are several beachfront and seaside areas in Southern California from Malibu, Huntingdon Beach to Santa Monica and Newport Beach. Laguna Beach is about an hour south of LA by car. It's quite a cute town area with boutique shops, an antiquated cinema, beautiful beaches where volleyball is the main sport. Laguna has a small town feel but is very popular among celebrities for holiday homes and beach houses due to its close proximity to the city and picturesque scenery.

It's best to go drive there before noon to beat the notorious LA traffic and if only going for the day drive back after 6pm. There are several restaurants, stores and bars in Laguna.

The Candy Baron is a sweet shop in Laguna which has been around for over 2 decades selling sweets from all over the world, retro sweets that are very difficult to find in the average supermarket these days and the popular sweets and chocolate that is sold currently. The Candy Baron stocks sweets such as Flying Saucers to Salt Water Taffy to Cadburys chocolate and candy bracelets.

Adolfos Mexican Food is a little fast food place that has amazing Mexican food if that's your thing. It's definitely mine. Adolfos makes burritos, tacos, tortilla chips, tostadas, chimichangas, quesadillas and enchiladas. The food is amazing, large portions and very reasonably priced. When you go to Laguna to have to check this place out.

Gelato Paradiso is this an amazing gelato restaurant, so good it quietly resembles the gelato I experienced in Rome. There are about 20 flavours of ice cream from chocolate chip to pistachio and coconut. They make each and every cone for the ice cream so its crispy and fresh when you bite into it. The smell of the cone making is also divine. Gelato Paradiso is one to not to be missed.

One quick tip or fact about Laguna is when you park in a car park, only reverse parking is allowed. Meaning you cannot park with the front of the car facing the outside of the car park. There are signs everywhere stating this and a fine for cars that are not parked in the correct way so bare this in mind.

Laguna can be an expensive place with regards to restaurants, bars and stores but I've given you a list of the more budget but still good eateries in the town. Hope this was helpful and enjoy.
