This afternoon Corrie and I went to Puerto Madero, another barrio in Buenos Aires. It is known for having the most expensive square feet of real estate in South America. It was merely a port in the 80s and a developer came along and changed the whole area. It's now very modern, sleek, has animpressive waterfront, several restaurants, hotels and apartments.
There is also a famous bridge named 'La Puente de la Mujer' which looks more like a harp/bridge than a woman. There is a yacht club with several boats and yachts for the high rollers. There are also several bank headquarters and company headquarters in Puerto Madero including Santander, ICBC and 3M.
The restaurants in the area are very expensive with meals starting at 150ARS/£20/$15 but it is possible to find a few cheaper options as Corrie and I did. We had a pizza at a restaurant overlooking the river. It was average but for 30ARS/£3/$5 who cares.
After we ate we went on this huge boat called Presidente Sarmiento. It's stationary and was a training ship for the Argentine Navy in 1890s. It virtually remained intact and serves as a museum now. It's 2ARS/£0.25/$0.38 to enter and quite cool inside due to its authenticity. I'd recommend checking it out just don't go to the lower decks if you're claustrophobic as its quite a small space and low ceilings.
After the boat we headed home. Another successful sightseeing day. :)
